Aller guten Dinge sind drei: Am 17. Juni 2025 wird Prof. Dr. Michael Staunton (Universtity College Dublin) die öffentliche Vorlesungsreihe des Akademieprojekts, die PAPALectures, fortsetzen. Sein Vortrag „Thomas Becket and the Alexandrine Schism“ wird ausloten, wie die hagiographischen Lebensbeschreibungen und die Korrespondenz des 1170 ermordeten Erzbischofs von Canterbury, Thomas Becket, für die Erforschung des Alexandrinischen Schismas nutzbar gemacht werden können.
Der Vortrag findet in englischer Sprache statt. Alle Interessierten sind dazu herzlich um 18:30 Uhr ins Historische Institut der RWTH Aachen (Hansen-Raum, Theaterplatz 14, Erdgeschoss) eingeladen.
Die Teilnahme ist in Präsenz oder digital möglich. Anmeldungen für die digitale Teilnahme bitte bis zum 13. Juni 2025 unter: blumenroth@histinst.rwth-aachen.de.

On 17 June 2025, Professor Michael Staunton (Universtity College Dublin) will enrich our public lecture series ‚PAPALectures‘ with a paper entitled ‘Thomas Becket and the Alexandrine Schism’. We cordially invite everyone interested in exploring how the hagiographical biographies of Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury and murdered in 1170, and his correspondence can be used as a source for research into the Alexandrine Schism.
The lecture will be held in English and will take place at the Department of History of the RWTH Aachen (Hansen Room, Theaterplatz 14, ground floor) at 6:30 p.m.
Participation will be possible both in person and via Zoom (for the latter, please register at blumenroth@histinst.rwth-aachen.de until June 13th 2025).
